classical argument essay revisions

On this essay, I still need to go through the paragraphs and give more credit to the authors. Last essay I had trouble remembering to do that, and it had a huge impact on my grade. I'm not going to let that mess me up again. Also, I have to go back to my citation page and list the refrences in alphabetical order. Right now I just have the sources listed, and need to make a few little changes.
Other than citation and refrencing, my essay is coming along well and I feel pretty good about where i'm at so far.

writing and literacy in my family

Going back to when I was young, I can remember reading a story with my mom before bed every night. I loved hearing a story, and had to see all of the pictures too. My siblings also have that tradition to this day. It is a great way to get exposed to words and literature, and i'm sure my positive experiences at a young age contribute to my writing/reading abilites today. Everyone in my family can read and write, so I never thought it was an option to be illiterate. It still suprises me how some people can make it through live without the ability to read or write. It is very important to me, and I know my family is the reason why.

intro/conclusions

Thankfully, I have had english teachers that love to talk about writing intresting intros and conclusions. I like to think I am pretty strong at writing introductions. I have been taught to start with a question or some kind of sentence that grabs the readers attention. If I cant think of a way to start my essay, then I leave some space and start with the second paragraph. Once my paper is finished, I can usually think of something to use as a catchy intro. When writing a conclusion I just quickly refer to the main ideas in the paper, and end with the thesis statement if I have one.

essay overview

Overall I thought this essay went well. It took me a while to finally decide on my topic, and choose a question. In the end, I really liked researching my topic which hopefully means I showed that in my essay. The format was new to me, but using the book really helped me to see the layout of an IMRD essay. I sort of felt like I was writing a chapter book, because of the different sections.
The other thing about this essay that I liked was the fact that we did our own personal research on the topic. It was nice to get a direct answer, rather than searcing all over for information to use. Plus, that ment we didnt have to use a refrence page unless it was necessary.

blog comments

A lot of the comments on my posts are agreements with what I wrote. Not all of my blogs were commented on,  but there are some posts that had 3 comments. The comments were mostly agreement statements, which is cool to see other people feel the same way I do. Some of the comments were just quick little statements, and some feedback on what I could do to fix any problems I blogged about.
